Crypto firms are preparing quantum-resistant upgrades as Google said encryption-breaking quantum computers could arrive by 2029. An unpublished June 2026 working paper estimated roughly 35% of Bitcoin circulating supply could be exposed to a quantum computing attack. People interviewed said none of the top 20 blockchains have implemented a post-quantum signature algorithm.
