Golden Finance reports that on July 7, according to CCTV, on the eve of the NATO summit in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the 6th called out to the United States: do not sell F-35 stealth fighters to Turkey, nor sell American-made engines suitable for Turkey's domestically produced stealth fighters, on the grounds that doing so would threaten the Israeli military's air superiority in the Middle East. The Israeli ambassador to the United States made a similar statement that day.
The NATO summit will be held in Ankara from the 7th to the 8th. Earlier, there were reports that the Turkish government intended to use the opportunity of US President Donald Trump's attendance at the summit to implement the purchase of American-made engines that could equip Turkey's domestically produced stealth fighters. In 2017, Turkey reached an agreement with Russia to purchase the Russian-made S-400 air defense missile system. The United States had been demanding that Turkey abandon the Russian air defense system in favor of the American-made Patriot system. After being refused, the US kicked Turkey out of the F-35 fighter jet project and imposed sanctions on Turkish defense officials. Bilateral relations subsequently cooled.
