🚨 Aptos Nearly Lost $70 Billion Due to a Security Vulnerability

An extremely serious security vulnerability has just been disclosed on Aptos's Move virtual machine.
According to security firm Hexens, with only about $3,000 USD to simulate nearly one-third of the validators, they could exploit the vulnerability with a success rate of nearly 90%. If exploited by malicious actors, the potential damage is estimated at up to $70 billion.
The commendable point is that two researchers responsibly reported it to Aptos in February 2026. The project quickly fixed the vulnerability before the information was made public in July 2026, preventing a catastrophic scenario.
This is also a reminder that even blockchains valued at billions of dollars are not immune to serious vulnerabilities. In crypto, security is always an endless race.
