Jinse Finance reported that on July 7, citing sources on Tuesday, a Qatari LNG carrier was attacked and severely damaged while sailing off the Oman side of the Strait of Hormuz, and crew evacuation is underway. Another source said earlier on Tuesday that the vessel named Al Rekayyat was carrying LNG and sent a distress signal after being hit on the port side, requesting assistance. It is still unclear the specific extent of damage to the ship.
