Nigeria's largest lithium processing plant starts production, processing 6,000 tons of ore per day

A few days ago, the Nigerian federal government officially inaugurated the country's largest lithium processing plant to date in Nasarawa State. The plant is operated by Diamond New Energy Company, with a daily processing capacity of 6,000 metric tons and an annual capacity of 3 million metric tons. President Tinubu presided over the unveiling ceremony through Vice President Shettima. The government stated that this is a key step in promoting industrialization, economic diversification, and local value addition strategy for minerals. Currently, Nigeria is vigorously encouraging local processing of lithium ore and restricting the export of raw ore. It is expected that related reforms will drive approximately $2.6 billion in investment. Proven lithium reserves are widely distributed across multiple states such as Kogi, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Kaduna. Nigeria is gradually emerging as an important lithium producer in Africa. (SMM)
