After the MiCA bill, the European Parliament will focus on DeFi and NFTs
The European Parliament passed a report titled "Digital Assets – Challenges to the Competitiveness and Integrity of the EU Financial System," recommending that DeFi, staking, crypto lending, and NFTs be included in the regulatory framework. The report does not directly amend MiCA or introduce new obligations, but it clarifies future regulatory priorities and asks the European Commission to assess areas outside the MiCA framework. The vote took place shortly after the MiCA transition period ends on July 1, 2026, aiming to address inconsistent enforcement, safeguard the single market, and enhance the competitiveness of European financial markets.
