Guotai Junan Futures: Oversupply and weak demand are the root causes of the current weakness in soda ash.

Abstract generation in progress
Soda ash is weak in the short term, but caution is needed when short-selling. Oversupply and weak demand are the fundamental reasons for the current weakness of soda ash. The domestic soda ash market is stable and weak, with prices oscillating at the bottom. Individual enterprises have increased their operating rates, leading to a narrow increase in overall supply. Downstream demand is average, mainly based on demand, and futures have fallen, increasing low-priced transactions. Looking at plant maintenance expectations, the number of maintenance plants is expected to increase around mid-month, leading to a decline in supply. Current market support factors mainly include manufacturers' tendency to support prices and a slight basis support. On the other hand, valuation factors are that current futures valuation is close to the price of transporting the lowest-cost plant cost line to the delivery warehouse. Of course, the bearish logic believes that valuation factors are secondary in the trend of oversupply and demand. (Guotai Junan Futures)
