Reuters, citing sources, reports that DeepSeek is developing its own chips to support AI system operation. The chips will be used for inference, not for building new models. Currently, nearly all major AI developers are researching their own chips, hoping to gain an advantage by customizing hardware that best suits their systems. Earlier, OpenAI announced the first custom chip to be jointly developed with Broadcom (AVGO.US).
