France remains the biggest favorite, but the path to the title is far from easy.
As the 2026 World Cup enters the quarterfinal stage, the race for the championship is becoming clearer. Based on the knockout matches completed so far, France is still one of my top picks to win it all.
France has eliminated Sweden and Paraguay, conceding zero goals in both matches. Their offensive and defensive performances make them one of the most stable teams in this World Cup. Compared to a slightly slow start in the group stage, France has significantly raised their intensity in the knockout rounds, showing championship pedigree in both midfield-forward progression and defensive solidity.
More importantly, France boasts the most balanced squad among the remaining eight teams. The forward line possesses world-class finishing ability, the midfield combines control and forward drive, the defense is experienced, and the goalkeeper is reliable. In the final stages of the World Cup, it's no longer just about attacking firepower but about who makes fewer mistakes—and France fits that bill perfectly.
Of course, the real test is just beginning. In the quarterfinals, they face the biggest dark horse of the tournament, Morocco, and cannot afford to be complacent. Morocco has eliminated the Netherlands and Canada in succession, conceding only one goal in two matches, maintaining the tough defensive style they've shown in recent major tournaments. If France fails to take an early lead, the match could turn into a war of attrition.
On the other side, Spain, Belgium, England, and Argentina are all in good form, each with the potential to contend for the title. So while France remains the top favorite, their lead is not as clear-cut as the odds suggest.
Considering overall team strength, World Cup experience, squad depth, and current form, I still believe France has about a 30% chance of winning the title, ranking first among all teams.
The World Cup has never been decided by paper strength alone; it's about who can win key matches consecutively. If France can get past Morocco, they will be just two games away from lifting the trophy again.#世界杯冠军预测
