The hosted proxy free tier is now open. We’ve filled in pitfalls like HTTP timeouts causing disconnects and credential state being lost during key resets. With asynchronous polling plus lossless credential refresh, the production-level Agent deployment barrier is visibly reduced.

CoinWorld news: Google has introduced several underlying infrastructure updates for the Gemini API hosted proxy agent to enhance the stability of agents running in the cloud. This update addresses three major obstacles developers face when deploying production-grade applications, including long tasks getting disconnected due to HTTP timeouts, the need to build a self-hosted relay proxy to access private data, and authorization key updates that reset the sandbox. The four adjustments include: 1) Asynchronous background execution, allowing clients to poll the status at any time; 2) Direct connections to remote MCP services, enabling agents to communicate with the server directly; 3) Hybrid function calls, with the status marked as requires\_action; 4) Lossless refresh of network credentials, allowing developers to directly override configuration. The hosted proxy has been opened on the API free tier, and developers can use the /genai development toolkit to call it directly.
