Golden Finance reports that on July 8, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei said on July 7 local time that Qatar’s accusations against Iran over an attack targeting a Qatari vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on July 6 are questionable and run counter to the principles of good-neighborliness. He stressed that such conduct is unacceptable. Baghaei cited Article 5 of a memorandum of understanding signed on June 18, which states that Iran will take necessary measures to ensure the management of the Strait of Hormuz and the provision of maritime services. Baghaei said that Iran is seriously fulfilling its commitments and expects regional countries, especially Qatar—an intermediary for the memorandum of understanding—to avoid any actions that violate the provisions of the aforementioned memorandum.
