South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix (SK Hynix, KR: 000660) launched its U.S.-listed plan of approximately $28.2 billion (about HK$220 billion) on Monday. It is expected to begin trading on Friday (the 10th) on Nasdaq, positioning itself to become the largest overseas company initial public offering (IPO) in U.S. history. The stock ticker is “SKHY”.

Foreign media reports that SK Hynix has introduced three cornerstone investors: Baillie Gifford, Coatue Management, and Situational Awareness Partners, with a total subscription of $7 billion in shares.

According to documents filed by the company with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, SK Hynix will issue 17.79 million American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), targeting $28.21 billion in fundraising. This will place it among the global tech stocks with the highest market valuations; every 10 ADRs represent 1 ordinary share. The group’s U.S. listing will be the third-largest IPO of all time, after SpaceX (US: SPCX) set a record of $87.5 billion last month, and Saudi Aramco’s $29.4 billion.

SK Hynix Roadshow This Week, Pricing on Thursday

Benefiting from strong market demand for artificial intelligence (AI), SK Hynix has gained approximately 273% year-to-date this year, significantly outperforming its main competitors Samsung Electronics (KR: 005930) and Micron (US: MU).

The regulatory filings indicate that SK Hynix will conduct roadshows this week, with pricing on Thursday, and start trading on Friday. SK Hynix said last week that it will invest 100 trillion Korean won to build new chip factories, including a NAND plant.
