Two major shipping giants resume Suez Canal route

Jinse Finance reports that on July 7, according to CCTV, Danish shipping group Maersk announced on the 6th that it will work with German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd through the “Gemini” cooperation network formed by the two shipping enterprises, allowing some of its vessels to resume using the Suez Canal route. Global shipping companies initially chose to go around the African continent, avoiding the Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the Suez Canal, starting in November 2023. At the time, as a new round of the Israel-Palestine conflict broke out, the Yemeni Houthis launched attacks in waters including the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden on ships linked to Israel, forcing shipping companies to avoid the Suez Canal.
