British maritime agency: Threat level in Hormuz raised to "severe"

Jinse Finance reports that on July 8, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated that three oil tankers were attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, and the maritime threat level in the region has been raised to "Severe," the second highest level. UKMTO said that an unnamed LNG carrier was struck by an unknown object on the port side of its engine room while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire; another ultra-large crude oil tanker was attacked by an unknown object while leaving the strait, and the vessel then continued to its destination port with no reports of casualties; a third tanker was attacked near the Musandam Peninsula in Oman, resulting in minor structural damage. UKMTO stated that under the current environment, the likelihood of "deliberate hostile actions" has increased, navigational disruptions persist, and it reminded relevant vessels to maintain a high level of vigilance. The agency said that Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps continues its hailing and route interference activities, especially targeting ships with their Automatic Identification Systems turned on.
