Trump: Greenland should be under US control, not Denmark.

US President Trump said during a meeting with Turkish President Erdogan that Greenland should be controlled by the US rather than Denmark.

Trump claimed that the US must acquire or control Greenland, a move that has caused tensions between the US and Denmark (both founding members of NATO) and sparked ripples across the wider Europe. Since then, the issue has entered a diplomatic resolution track.

As NATO leaders gathered for a summit in Turkey, Trump pointed out that it should be controlled by the US, not Denmark, and that the issue of control over Greenland has damaged US relations with NATO.

He said, "The Greenland issue has damaged my relationship with NATO, because Greenland has not brought any help to Denmark. Denmark has not really spent money to support Greenland, but Greenland is an extremely important part for the US. They are unwilling to cooperate, even though we spent so much money helping them deal with Russia."

Believes the Ukraine War Will Be Resolved

Regarding the progress of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump said he had spoken by phone with Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky, and hopes the Ukraine war can be resolved soon.

He said, "I had a very good conversation with President Putin, and we had a long conversation. Then I also had a conversation with President Zelensky. I think they both want to reach an agreement... I believe we can solve this problem, and hopefully soon."

Additionally, Trump pointed out that Toyota Motor plans to invest $3.6 billion to build a new auto plant in Texas and shift some truck production from Mexico to the US, calling it a "really big deal."
