The largest U.S. power grid PJM begins to manage data center electricity demand.

On Tuesday, members of PJM Interconnection voted in favor of a plan aimed at acquiring more electricity to meet the growing data center demand. This surge in demand is threatening the power supply of the largest grid in the United States. PJM’s voting members cast non-binding votes on more than a dozen proposals on how to power data centers through the so-called “backstop procurement” process. One of the plans, put forward by data center advocates and major regulated utility companies, was advanced.
