Former OpenAI Chinese researcher Tian Yonglong joins Tencent Hunyuan team.
According to Beating monitoring, former OpenAI technical team member Tian Yonglong has confirmed that he has joined Tencent Hunyuan’s team, and will in the future participate in R&D related to vision-language models.
Tian Yonglong graduated from Tsinghua University with a bachelor’s degree and obtained a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He previously served as a senior research scientist at Google Research and Google DeepMind, and his research mainly focuses on computer vision and generative models.
This is another top Chinese AI researcher that Tencent Hunyuan has introduced, following last December’s recruitment of Chief AI Scientist Yao Shunyu. Tencent recently rolled out the official version of the Hunyuan Hy3 model led by Yao Shunyu, and it adopted an open-source license. With Tian Yonglong joining, Tencent Hunyuan’s large model will further increase its talent density in multimodal and visual research and development.
