Huawei “Genius Youth” Li Bojie Responds to “Taking Money and Disappearing” Allegations: Investment Funds Were Not Fully Credited; Resignation Approved by the Board of Directors

Mars Finance news: On July 7, Li Bojie, one of Huawei’s first batch of “genius youths,” took to social media to complain about his DeepSeek interview experience. He said that during the coding interview he was questioned about cheating, and he ended the interview on the spot. The complaint quickly sparked a new controversy. Former investor and co-founder of Web3 venture capital firm ABCDE, Du Jun, publicly accused Li Bojie of “a lack of commitment to contracts.”

Du Jun alleged that when Li Bojie and his partner Zhuang Siyuan founded Metagent in 2024, after obtaining ABCDE’s investment, they refused to fulfill their contractual obligations to synchronize financial and business progress updates, and then directly went missing and fled. Du Jun said he could accept various failures of the project, but could not accept fraudulent conduct by the founders—taking the money and running.

In response, Li Bojie said: “In the investment agreement, the ABCDE Capital investment is $1.5 million, but in reality only $500,000 was received; the remaining $1.0 million has never been paid. The company’s cap table still records the institution’s equity based on the $1.5 million share. Because the investment funds did not arrive for a long time, both he and the co-founder proactively reduced their salaries, and the company’s recruitment and R&D also faced difficulties. In October 2024, due to personal and family reasons, he was unable to leave mainland China, and because the Web3 project was non-compliant, he left Metagent and obtained board approval. He said that up to the time of his departure, as CTO and co-founder, he had been fulfilling the duty to disclose the cap table and business status on schedule, and in accordance with the non-compete clause in the agreement, his subsequent entrepreneurial projects intentionally avoided areas such as Web3, AI infra, and image generation.”
