My father’s annual property tax bill was around $420 back in the late ’80s.

Today, that very same home carries a tax bill of nearly $38,000 a year.
That’s more than $3,100 every month before paying for repairs, insurance, or utilities just to keep living in a house that’s supposedly “paid off.”
It makes you wonder whether we truly own property… or simply keep paying the government for the privilege of staying on it.
