Laurel Senior Town, Summer Colored by Opera... Cultural Arts Program Successfully Concluded

A high-end silver town, “Rauer Senior Town,” announced that on June 26 it held a performance of the opera in the concert hall within the complex. This stage was arranged as part of the summer season programs “Rauer Summer Opening” and “Rauer Friends Day,” and was jointly carried out with the Korea Cultural Love Cape Friends (K-Friends) foundation.

The Osiria Rauer Concert Hall, where the performance took place, proved the high level of interest: all 335 seats were filled with residents and invited guests. Designed to bring culture and the arts closer to people’s everyday lives, the performance added meaning not only as a simple viewing experience, but also as a venue for cultural exchange that residents could enjoy together.

The program began with an introduction and commentary on the work by Professor Hong Ji-hye, who graduated from the Verdi National Music Academy in Milan, Italy, and previously served as an opera coach for the National Opera Company. By clearly conveying the historical background contained in the work, the conflicts among the characters, and the emotional storyline, she heightened audience immersion. In the main performance that followed, soprano Baek Yu-jin (as Santuzza), tenor Ryu Shin-ye (as Turiddu), and mezzo-soprano Seo Mi-seon (as Lola) showcased delicate acting and excellent vocal ability. The stage was further elevated by organist Yoon In-hwa, trumpet player Dmitry Lokarenkov, and the Yangsan Citizens’ Choir.

At the photo booth installed at the entrance of the venue, visitors kept coming to leave behind memories of the performance. After the show, a banquet prepared at the dining restaurant “Sobae” within the complex was provided, giving attendees time to share the emotion of the performance together. The commemorative group photo session with the performers and attendees, held as the final event, made the meaning of the occasion even deeper.

K-Friends Chairman Jung Jeong-woo said, “With this performance as an opportunity, I hope that Busan-area culture and the arts can become closer to more citizens,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to prepare high-quality performances and a variety of cultural programs, and contribute to the development of local culture.”

Rauer Senior Town Chairman Yoon Mi-young said, “It was a meaningful time when residents and distinguished guests could share the deep emotions that opera conveys,” and stated, “We plan to steadily expand Rauer’s differentiated programs so that culture and the arts can be naturally enjoyed in everyday life.”
