Indonesia's Mount Merapi erupts, pyroclastic flow slides about 2000 meters

According to the Indonesian Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center, at 08:41 local time on the 6th, Mount Merapi in Indonesia erupted, triggering pyroclastic flows that slid approximately 2,000 meters to the southwest, lasting 124.88 seconds. Mount Merapi is located at the border between Central Java Province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, about 30 kilometers from Yogyakarta City, and is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. In 2010, the volcano erupted continuously, causing 353 deaths, the evacuation of about 350k people, covering large areas with ash, and the airport was temporarily closed. In recent years, Mount Merapi has remained active, with multiple lava eruptions and pyroclastic flows. Indonesian authorities continue to monitor it around the clock. (CCTV News)
