Wu learned that the Ministry of Communication Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) of Sierra Leone, the National Digital Identity Limited of Bhutan (Bhutan NDI), and the SIGN Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly design, develop, and implement a national digital identity platform for Sierra Leone. The platform will utilize open-source technology and verifiable credentials compliant with W3C standards, enabling citizens to securely manage and prove their identities while emphasizing privacy, security, and data sovereignty.
