Abstract generation in progress
On July 6, according to Google Developer Blog, the Chrome Web Store (extension marketplace) updated its Developer Program Policies, which will be strictly enforced from August 1, 2026. The new rules explicitly classify prediction markets as regulated goods, prohibiting extensions that support real-money trading on prediction outcomes; user data collected by extensions must only be used for the single purpose disclosed in advance and must not be misappropriated; all data collection practices must be disclosed to users in a prominent manner, and if the data processing method changes after installation, developers must proactively inform users; additionally, new terms prohibit extensions that bypass AI service security protections, usage restrictions, and other safeguards. Non-compliant extensions may be forcibly removed or subject to other actions.
