The Hong Kong Observatory issued a Red Rainstorm Warning Signal at 9:45 p.m.

The Observatory stated that the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal means that heavy rain with an hourly rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters has been recorded or is expected over a wide area of Hong Kong, and the rain may persist.

The persistent heavy rain has or will cause severe road flooding and traffic congestion. Affected by the heavy rain, there may be flash floods, and rivers have already overflowed or may overflow. Citizens should stay away from rivers. Residents near rivers should closely monitor weather conditions, and if their homes may be flooded, they should consider evacuating.

In addition, the Education Bureau announced that schools should take contingency measures to ensure student safety. Schools that are currently in session should continue classes until dismissal time and allow students to return home only when it is safe.
