Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, during a recent inspection tour in Shandong, stated that biomedicine is an emerging pillar industry. Efforts should focus on core technologies in innovative drugs and medical devices, strengthen basic research and organized breakthroughs, deepen AI empowerment in R&D, and comprehensively enhance independent innovation capabilities.

Xinhua News Agency quoted Liu Guozhong as saying that the role of enterprises as innovation entities should be fully leveraged, the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements should be strengthened, international exchanges and cooperation should be deepened, and the biomedical industry should be expanded and strengthened; the rational allocation and use of innovative drugs and devices should be accelerated to better meet the health needs of the people.

Liu Guozhong also mentioned the innovative development of agricultural machinery equipment and the acceleration of modern water network construction; he stated that according to relevant plans, the focus should be on connecting networks, complementing networks, and strengthening chains, improving the main framework and backbone water transmission and distribution channels, and promoting the collaborative integration of water networks at all levels.

He also pointed out that the research and application of advanced and suitable agricultural machinery equipment should be accelerated, and the technological transformation and digitalization of agricultural machinery enterprises should be supported.
