Golden Finance reported on July 6 that Samsung Electronics said on Monday that the performance bonus for its semiconductor business employees in the first half of this year will be up to 100% of their basic salary. This generous bonus level is the same as that of the second half of last year and will be distributed on Wednesday. The bonus comes as the semiconductor industry enters an unprecedented AI super cycle, with shipments of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) continuing to climb. Analysts estimate that Samsung's memory chip division alone will have an operating profit of about 140 trillion Korean won (about $91 billion) in the first half of this year. Full-year operating profit could approach 350 trillion Korean won. Samsung is scheduled to release its second-quarter earnings guidance on Tuesday. (Jin Shi)
