Trump: Will Not Sign Housing Bill Before Election Law Bill

On July 3, according to CNBC, U.S. President Trump refused to commit to signing a bipartisan housing bill—passed by Congress over a week ago—during a statement on Thursday. Instead, he shifted the focus to a controversial election bill known as the SAVE America Act. Trump stated that he would not sign the housing bill until Congress presents the election bill for his signature. He remarked, 'I believe the SAVE America Act is the most important legislation we have right now, and for many years to come.' The bill would require voters to present photo identification when voting and provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote. While discussing the housing bill, Trump noted, 'There are many provisions proposed by Democrats that I even think are inappropriate, but that’s okay. I have made my position clear: I would rather not sign any bill before signing the SAVE America Act.'
