Coinbase AI incorrectly stated that Norway defeated Brazil before the match.

Coin World News, Coinbase recently faced criticism over an AI-generated notification that falsely claimed Norway defeated Brazil 3-2 in a FIFA World Cup match that had not yet started, and that Haaland scored two goals. However, users quickly discovered the issue: the match was actually delayed due to weather and had not begun. Crypto commentator Jay Drain Jr. criticized the error, stating that Coinbase was "hallucinating results" and sending factually incorrect breaking news to millions of users. He called the incident "dangerous and irresponsible." Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong responded, saying, "Looking into it with the team, thanks for the report." A few hours later, Coinbase executive Max Branzburg confirmed that the company had corrected the error and noted that AI-driven market insights have great potential but still need further improvement to prevent such mistakes. The incident has raised concerns about Coinbase's growing reliance on AI, particularly regarding the reliability of its prediction market products.
