BlockBeats News, July 6 - Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business Division achieved single-month profitability in June this year. This is the first time the division has recorded monthly profitability since 2023. Industry insiders believe that the increase in orders for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) base chips and improvements in advanced process yield rates have reduced fixed cost burdens, driving the recovery in profitability. Following the current trend, Samsung's foundry business is expected to turn around at the quarterly level in the third quarter of this year.

Although the overall performance in the second quarter is still weighed down by losses from April to May, making it difficult to determine whether the entire quarter has achieved profitability, with the turnaround in June, Samsung internally generally believes that the likelihood of achieving quarterly profitability in the third quarter has significantly increased.

Analysts believe this is the first time Samsung's Foundry Business Division has achieved monthly profitability since 2023. Over the past few years, this business has been in a prolonged loss-making state, mainly due to multiple factors including low advanced process yield rates, loss of major customers, and insufficient capacity utilization.
