Mars Finance News, July 6 – Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business Division achieved a monthly profit in June this year. This marks the division's first monthly profit since 2023. Industry insiders believe that the increase in orders for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) base chips and improvements in advanced process yield have reduced fixed cost burdens, driving the recovery in profitability. Based on current trends, Samsung's foundry business is expected to achieve a quarterly turnaround in the third quarter of this year. Although the overall performance in the second quarter was still dragged down by losses from April to May, making it difficult to determine whether the entire quarter was profitable, with the turnaround in June, Samsung internally generally believes that the likelihood of achieving quarterly profitability in the third quarter has significantly increased. Analysis suggests that this is the first monthly profit for Samsung's Foundry Business Division since 2023. Over the past few years, the business has been in a prolonged loss-making state, primarily due to factors such as low advanced process yield, loss of major clients, and insufficient capacity utilization.
