About 20 pieces of jewelry were stolen from the Lalique Museum in France, with losses possibly reaching millions of euros

In the early morning of July 5, the Lalique Museum in the Bas-Rhin department in eastern France was hit by a burglary. About 20 pieces of jewelry from the museum’s collection were stolen, with preliminary estimates putting the loss at millions of euros. Around 6 a.m., the museum’s alarm was triggered, and the first on-site cleaning staff immediately called the police. After the police arrived, they found that at least 6 display cases had been smashed, and the suspect had fled the scene. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage to carry out the investigation. The museum has announced a temporary closure. The Lalique Museum opened in 2011 and houses glass art and jewelry works created by the renowned French glass artist and jewelry designer, René Lalique.
