WHO declares end of Hantavirus outbreak related to cruise ship "Hondius"

The World Health Organization announced on the 2nd that the Hantavirus outbreak associated with the cruise ship “Houndius” has ended. Previously, the last close contact had completed quarantine and tested negative for the virus. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at the agency’s routine press briefing that day: “Today, the last Hantavirus close contact on the cruise ship ‘Houndius’ has completed quarantine, tested negative for the virus, and has gone home.” With no new cases reported since May 25, the WHO believes this round of the Hantavirus outbreak has ended.
