What's the current employment situation like in China?

The other day I was scrolling through videos,
and I saw one about Lianjia implementing a "salary loan system." Basically, it means you come to work,
and the company gives you money, but that money isn't your labor compensation—
it's money the company lends you. If you close a deal, you have to pay it back to the company.
If within a certain time frame you can't close any deals and end up getting laid off by the company,
you have to return all the money that was lent to you. After watching it, I was shocked—
not just by the capitalists pulling this kind of move,
but even more so because Lianjia isn't some remote, illegal coal mine;
it's at least a well-known company.
How can something so outrageous be done so openly in broad daylight?
Oh, and Lianjia apparently requires a college degree too.
