Mars Finance News, on July 5, Serenity said in a post that high-power cylindrical batteries/BBU cells currently appear to be in short supply and have become a potential bottleneck. Samsung SDI supplies cells to Simplo, which then assembles them into BBUs and supplies them to companies such as Meta and Amazon. With rising demand from data centers, Samsung SDI’s cylindrical battery production has also increased significantly. It cited industry sources saying that Panasonic and Samsung SDI are facing a shortage of BBU cell supply. Serenity believes the main beneficiaries may include Samsung SDI, Panasonic Energy, Murata Manufacturing, and LG Energy Solution. Among them, Samsung SDI and Panasonic Energy are the more direct beneficiaries. It also said there aren’t many directly related targets in the U.S. market, but investors may consider paying attention to Vertiv (VRT), Eaton (ETN), and others. However, shortages should not be simply equated with having a large TAM, though there may be opportunities within it.
