Deep Tide TechFlow news. On July 05, according to Red Star News, an investigation report leaked from a scam compound in Myanmar shows that global telecom fraud is accelerating toward an “AI industrialization + cross-border crypto payment” framework. Scam networks use cryptocurrencies to complete fund transfers, and use automation tools based on large language models to generate multilingual scripts, impersonate identities, and manipulate emotions. According to the investigation and analysis, at the functional level, these systems make extensive use of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini to support “large-scale social scams.” On the funding side, they achieve rapid laundering and transfer through on-chain payments and cross-border channels, forming a dual-layer structure of “AI customer acquisition + crypto settlement,” which gives the scam industry a high degree of automation and cross-border spreading capability. In addition, Starlink owned by Musk has become the number one network services provider for the Myanmar scam compound, and U.S. ISP providers carry nearly one-fifth of the compound’s traffic.

Regarding the relevant allegations, OpenAI said that the behavior of scam actors using ChatGPT is highly similar to that of ordinary users, which makes it more difficult to identify them, but it has already blocked about 100,000 suspicious accounts per month through behavioral pattern recognition and risk-control systems. Google said its AI models have safety guardrails in place and emphasized its commitment to “responsible AI development,” to limit tools from being used for fraud and other illegal purposes.
