AI frenzy continues? US tech companies' data center leasing commitments hit a record high, reaching $850 billion.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that The Kobeissi Letter, citing Bloomberg on X, said, “U.S. technology companies have committed to investing a record $850 billion in data center leasing over the coming years—an increase of $570 billion year over year, representing a 204% increase. This is also an increase of $200 billion quarter over quarter, representing a 31% increase.
It is reported that Meta added new commitments of $79 billion in Q1 2026, up 76% quarter over quarter, for total commitments of approximately $183 billion. Microsoft added $41 billion in the same period, up 26% quarter over quarter, bringing total commitments to approximately $197 billion. Oracle (Oracle) leads with total commitments of about $250 billion, having locked in multiple key sites to fulfill its contracts with OpenAI.”
