Trump: One attack at Khamenei's funeral could wipe out all of Iran's top leadership, but he won't do that, because then there would be no one to negotiate with.
According to reference news, citing Al Jazeera, US President Donald Trump said in an interview on July 4 that the scenes of Iranian people mourning the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei "shocked" him, saying, "I thought Iranians didn't like him."
Trump also claimed that during Khamenei's funeral, all the top Iranian officials were gathered together, and one attack could wipe them all out, but he would not do so because then there would be no one left to negotiate.
According to CCTV News, on July 4 local time, Iran held a public farewell and mourning ceremony for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the capital Tehran.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military strike against Iran, and Khamenei was killed in the airstrike.
On July 3 local time, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei said that about 100 countries had sent official delegations, public groups, or prominent figures to attend the farewell ceremony for Iran's late Supreme Leader Khamenei.
Baghaei said that the attendees included at least eight heads of state (presidents or prime ministers), speakers of parliament from 12 countries, and foreign ministers, ministerial-level officials, or special envoys from multiple countries.
He also said that official delegations, lawmakers, and civil society figures from various Eastern European countries also attended the ceremony. However, European countries that publicly supported Israel and the United States in their military actions against Iran were not invited.
According to @CCTV国际时讯, on July 3, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi posted on a social media platform to mourn the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He said that the assassination of Ali Khamenei has brought deep sorrow to all Iranians.
As planned, Iran will hold a funeral for Ali Khamenei starting July 4: on July 4 and 5, public mourning ceremonies will be held in the Iranian capital Tehran, and a funeral procession will take place in Tehran on July 6; on July 7, a funeral procession will be held in the holy city of Qom; at the request of Iraq, a funeral procession will be held on July 8 in the two Shiite holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq; on July 9, a funeral procession for Ali Khamenei and his family members killed will be held in the holy city of Mashhad. After the ceremony, the body of Ali Khamenei will be buried.
