Why make friends with well-read people? Because the greatest value of reading is not to increase knowledge, but to reduce prejudice.

The more of the world a person has seen, the less they will mistake their own experiences for the entire world. They know that any viewpoint has its boundaries, and any stance has its premises.
So when disagreements arise, they are more willing to understand than to argue over who is right; when problems occur, they are more willing to find solutions than to assign blame.
What truly reading books changes is never memory, but a person’s way of understanding the world. $BTCDOM
