Serenity: JD.com plans to replace 700k delivery workers with robots, and the wave of automation in the logistics industry may sweep the world.
BlockBeats News, July 5, Serenity shared in a post that e-commerce giant JD.com founder Liu Qiangdong once revealed that robots will gradually replace about 700k delivery workers in the future. The company has signed cooperation agreements with about 120 schools to train delivery workers for robot repair, maintenance, and other positions.
Serenity believes this aligns with Amazon's earlier proposal to reduce future hiring needs by about 600k through robots, showing that robot commercialization is accelerating. The labor structure in the logistics industry is shifting from "manual delivery" to "robot operation and maintenance."
It predicts that this model may gradually expand to global logistics and delivery platforms such as DoorDash, Uber, and Mercado Libre in the future, and the commercialization of robots may progress faster than market expectations.
