On July 2, 2026, Metaplanet (stock code: 3350), a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in Japan, disclosed its Bitcoin holding data for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026.
According to regulatory filings, the company purchased 2,823 Bitcoins in the second quarter at an average price of approximately $88,300 per coin.
This acquisition, valued at approximately $170.7 million, brought its total holdings to 43,000 BTC, with a market value of approximately $2.6 billion.
As of July 3, 2026, according to Gate market data, the price of Bitcoin was approximately $61,779, the total market cap was approximately $1.23 trillion, and Metaplanet’s holdings accounted for approximately 0.205%.
This data indicates that Metaplanet has surpassed the 36,303 Bitcoins held by the U.S. Bitcoin mining company MARA Holdings, officially becoming the world’s third-largest publicly traded company Bitcoin holder.
Currently, only two institutions remain ahead of it: Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) and Twenty One Capital, and the gap from second place is only 514 Bitcoins.
