U.S. tech companies pledge a record $850 billion in AI infrastructure data center lease contracts


U.S. tech companies, including Meta, Microsoft, and Oracle, have committed to signing a total of $850 billion in data center lease contracts for AI infrastructure construction over the next few years. This scale represents an increase of $570 billion compared to the same period last year, a year-over-year growth of 204%; and an increase of $200 billion from the previous quarter, a quarter-over-quarter growth of 31%.
Meta added $79 billion in lease contracts in the first quarter of 2026, bringing its total to approximately $183 billion; Microsoft added $41 billion, bringing its total to approximately $197 billion; Oracle leads with approximately $250 billion.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that the cost of building a 1-gigawatt AI data center could reach up to $100 billion.
