According to Var-Matin, the Gassin–Saint-Tropez gendarmerie arrested a mother and son suspected of defrauding a couple of 1.5 million euros (approximately $1.8 million) in crypto assets through a fake villa transaction. Investigators said the suspects allegedly used hidden camera glasses during a meeting in Milan to obtain the victims' wallet information and private keys and transfer the funds. The two suspects have been placed under judicial supervision and are expected to appear in court on September 1, with both denying the allegations during questioning.

It is normal for a suspect to deny the charges, but technical forensics is likely unavoidable. Wait for the September trial to see the chain of evidence.

Face-to-face transaction in Milan, turned out to be a phishing scam. Offline OTP is too risky.

1.5 million euros gone just like that, the risk of self-custody is vividly reflected in this case.

This operation is too outrageous. Camera glasses steal private keys. Even movies wouldn't dare to shoot like this.
