The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Chennai City Police has arrested eight individuals, including five bank-approved gold appraisers, for allegedly defrauding Canara Bank of ₹63.39 lakh. The accused obtained loans by pledging fake gold ornaments. The Bank Fraud Investigation Wing of the CCB registered the case based on a complaint by the bank's deputy general manager.
