China's Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday (2nd) that He Wei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will attend the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader Khamenei in Tehran on Friday (3rd) on behalf of China.

Khamenei was killed on February 28 this year, the first day of a large-scale airstrike by the United States and Israel against Iran, at the age of 86.

Due to the continuous escalation of the subsequent US-Iran conflict, the funeral originally scheduled for March was forced to be postponed and was not held until July.

According to AFP, Khamenei's public funeral will begin on Saturday (4th), and his body will be placed at a large religious and official event venue in downtown Tehran for the public to pay their respects.

The burial ceremony is scheduled for next Thursday (9th) at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, Iran.

Mashhad is Khamenei's hometown and one of the most important religious sites in Iran.
