Mars Finance News, according to Nice-Matin, police in France’s Var region, after a year of investigation, successfully cracked a cryptocurrency fraud case involving €1.5 million and arrested a mother and son pair. The two carried out a “Rip Deal” (fake sales) scam, claiming they could arrange the purchase of luxury homes, luring a wealthy couple in Ramatuelle to Milan and demanding that the couple pay a €1.5 million transaction guarantee fee in cryptocurrency. During the operation, the suspects used hidden cameras to secretly film and steal the victims’ cryptocurrency account information and private keys, before transferring all the crypto assets. The police arrested the mother and son in Cavalaire and simultaneously seized real estate assets belonging to the suspects worth €1.9 million. Both suspects have multiple prior fraud convictions and will stand trial on September 1, facing several criminal charges related to organized gang fraud.
