After a year-long investigation, the French police of the Var department arrested a mother and son suspected of carrying out a "Rip Deal" (fake sale) scam.

The scam ring, under the pretext of acting as agents for wealthy businessmen buying villas, lured a wealthy couple from Ramatuelle to Milan, and demanded they pay a "sale fee guarantee" of 1.5 million euros in cryptocurrency.
The scammers stole the victims' account information and private keys through hidden cameras, then quickly drained the accounts.
The police arrested the suspects in Cavalaire-sur-Mer and seized their property valued at 1.9 million euros.
The suspects have multiple prior fraud convictions and will appear in court on September 1, facing charges including organized gang fraud.
