After a year-long investigation, police in the French Var department arrested a mother and son suspected of carrying out a "Rip Deal" (fake sale) fraud. The fraud ring, using the pretext of acting as agents for a wealthy businessman purchasing a villa, lured a wealthy couple from Ramatuelle to Milan and demanded a "sales fee guarantee" of 1.5 million euros to be paid in cryptocurrency. The fraudsters stole the victims' account and private keys via hidden cameras, then quickly emptied the account. Police arrested the suspects in Cavalaire-sur-Mer and seized their property valued at 1.9 million euros. The suspects have multiple previous fraud convictions and will appear in court on September 1, facing charges including organized gang fraud.

Keep private keys in the hotel? This security awareness is worse than my grandma's.

"Rip Deal" this scam specifically targets the old money, one trip to Milan and directly 1.5 million euros gone.
