National Bureau of Statistics Service Industry Survey Center Chief Statistician Huo Lihui interprets China's Purchasing Managers' Index for June 2026. The manufacturing production index was 51.4%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating accelerated expansion of enterprise production activities; the new orders index rose to the expansion zone at 51.2%, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous month, showing improvement in market demand. By industry, the production index and new orders index for agricultural and sideline food processing, special equipment, and computer communication and electronic equipment were both above 54.0%, indicating strong production and demand in related industries; the two indexes for chemical fiber and rubber plastic products, and ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing continued to be below the critical point, showing insufficient supply and demand. The PMI for large manufacturing enterprises was 50.7%, continuing to expand; the PMI for medium-sized enterprises was 50.5%, up 1.9 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a significant recovery in the prosperity level; the PMI for small enterprises was 48.2%, showing a decline in the prosperity level.
