America has become a country built around one generation.

• They still hold an outsized share of the nation’s wealth.
• They dominate political influence and leadership.
• Many own multiple properties while younger families struggle to buy their first home.
• They champion policies they believe are morally virtuous, while often avoiding the long-term economic tradeoffs.
• They support high levels of immigration that expand the labor force and help sustain housing demand.
• Rising taxes increasingly fund growing healthcare and retirement obligations.
• With most of their assets already secured, many are insulated from problems that hit younger generations the hardest.
• The next generation inherits soaring debt, expensive housing, and fewer opportunities than their parents enjoyed.
Whether you agree or not, it’s hard to ignore that the biggest political and economic decisions of the last several decades have largely benefited those already established while leaving younger Americans to pay the bill.
