Wang Yi and Rubio had a phone call, hoping that the US side would handle Taiwan-related affairs with utmost caution.
Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke by phone with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio, and he specifically mentioned that the Taiwan issue affects the whole situation; he hoped that the U.S. side would handle Taiwan-related matters with the utmost care.
According to Xinhua News Agency, on June 30, Wang Yi spoke by phone with Rubio. He said that in May this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump reached a series of important consensuses in Beijing, including the building of a “China-U.S. constructive strategic stable relationship,” which provided strategic guidance and clarified development directions for China-U.S. relations for the next 3 years and even longer. He emphasized that building a constructive strategic stable relationship is what both peoples of the two countries desire and what the international community expects, and it is also tied to the fundamental interests of China and the U.S. The two sides should remove interference, overcome obstacles, and firmly move forward along this correct direction.
Wang Yi pointed out that the two sides should always uphold the spirit of equality, respect, and reciprocity, and turn the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state into concrete policies and practical steps.
He said that building a constructive strategic stable relationship is not just a slogan; it requires action—moving toward each other and making sustained efforts over a long time. To this end, the two sides should extend the cooperation agenda, build more positive agendas, while compressing the list of issues and managing all kinds of risks and potential hidden dangers. He said that the Taiwan issue affects the whole situation and hoped that the U.S. side would handle Taiwan-related matters with the utmost care.
The two sides unanimously agreed that this phone call between the two foreign ministers was positive and constructive. They agreed to jointly implement the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state, and to continue maintaining communication in flexible ways.
Separately, according to reports from U.S. media, the Trump administration is drafting new rules to ban Chinese solar inverters (Inverter) to prevent China from potentially using these devices to disrupt the United States’ power supply. In response, the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. said it opposes the U.S.’s generalization of the concept of national security and its unreasonable crackdown on Chinese companies. It called on the U.S. to provide a fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies.
